Bhutan's mountain Jomolhari (7326 m) is among the collection of 100 amazing place to remember before they disappear, at the photo exhibition in Copenhagen, Denmark  Day 01: Arrive-Paro: Upon arrival meet with our representative and transfer to hotel O/N hotel in Paro. Day 02: Paro-sightseeing: Visit Kichu Lhakhang, National Museum and Paro Dzong. Latter in the evening assemble the trekking gear. O/N Hotel in Paro. Day 03: Paro-Sahana: 17 km, 5-6 hrs walk, alt. 2800m Start trek. Drive up to Drugyal Dzong where the road ends and trek beings, follow the river gently uphill through the agricultural valley and the village. O/N camp Day 04: Shana-Thangthayka: 20 kms, 9-10hrs walk, alt. 3750m Continue uphill through the alpine forest. It narrows and closes in the winds along the drainage. The trek is mostly through the deep forest. Camp is in the meadow with a stone shelter. O/N Camp Day 05: Soi Thangthayka-Jangothang: 19 kms, 6-7 hrs walk, alt. 3750m Continue up the Pa Chhu (River). Pass a small army post where the valley beings to widen again. Now view of high ridges and snow-capped peak can be seen all around. Camp beneath a ruined fortress at the base of Mt. Jhomolhari and Mt. Jichu Darkey. O/N Camp. Day 06: jangothang-Halt: (optional) Trek up to tsophu for fishing or do any one of the three hiking excursions. Mt. Jhomolhari and its subsidiary are due west, Mt. Jichu Darkey is to the north, unclimbed submits and ridges are to the east. O/N Camp. Day 07: Jhomothang-Lingshi: 19 km trail, 7-8 hrs alt. 4150m Wide yak pastures is visible both on the way up and down the pass. You may encounter some nomads in their yak tents. You can see the Lingshi Dzong. Tserim Kham and its descending glaciers are at the north end of the valley from the Nyele pass alt.4700m. O/N Camp. Day 08: Lingshi-Halt:(optional) On this day, halt at Lingshi for one day excursion to Tshoka, The base camp of the Juchu Darkey. Large herds of blue sheep and musk deer may be seen. O/N Camp. Day 09: Lingshi-Shodu: 18 km walk, alt. 3963m The trail ascends up to the Yalila Pass, altitude 4820m, from the pass, Mt. Jhomolhari, Tserim Gang and Mt. Masagang can be seen on the clear days. Then descend. O/N Camp. Day 10 : Shodu-Barsong: 13 kms, 6- 7 hrs walk, alt. 3785m Follow Wang Chhu through the forest of rhododendron and waterfalls, river then narrow and closes in the trail winds of ascending to the ruins of Basosng Dzong. Camp just below the Dzong O/N Camp. Day 11: Barsong–Dolam Kencho: 13 kms, 5-6 hrs walk alt. 3699 m Descend gradually to meet Wang Chhu, passing through forest of rhododendron, and then ascends once again onto pasture land. Camp in meadow. O/N Camp. Day 12: Dolma Kencho-Thimphu: 17 kms, 6-7 hrs walk, alt. 2400m Continue uphill through the forest of a small pass. The trail winds up and along the drainage. Wild animals may be seen. At Dodina, meet the transportation for the drive to Thimphu. O/N Hotel in Thimphu. Day 13: Thimphu-Punakha: Morning Thimphu sightseeing , Visit Memorial Chorten, painting School, national Library. After the lunch drive to Punakha/ Wangdue across the Dochula Pass (Alti: 3050m) where one can see the beautiful views of Eastern Himalayan range. O/N Hotel in Wangdue. Day 14: Punakha–Paro: Visit Wangdue Dzong and Punakha Dzong, which is the winter home of Central Monastic Body (Je-Khanpo). After lunch transfer from Paro. O/N Day15 : Paro Departure: |
